Stressed? Repair yourself with Gold!

November 3rd was National Stress Awareness Day - so I have been discussing Stress in my Thrive Workshops...

It's a huge topic.

One recurrent theme is feeling stressed that we have a flaw, or we perceive we have failed.

I find it helpful to think about this plate: it's broken, it's flawed, but that's OK...

...because is has been repaired with Gold.

Instead of hiding the flaw, it is celebrated.

Instead of getting stressed about the broken plate & chucking it away - it has been repaired.

Accepting - and even celebrating our flaws, can be a really helpful way to minmise stress.

This plate is an example of the Japanese art of Kintsugi.

The philosophy behind this is one of embracing flaws and accepting the ever-changing nature of life.

In a nutshell -

None of us is perfect. And that is OK.

And I’ll leave you with a wonderful quote about gold;

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
