Do You Own Your Story?

I have been reflecting recently on the importance of our stories. Stories matter to us humans, as individuals & in our communities. Why else would we love photos? Or find Dementia so distressing to witness?

I have been reflecting recently on the importance of our stories.

Stories matter to us humans, as individuals & in our communities.

Why else would we love photos? Or find Dementia so distressing to witness?

My sense is that photos help us tell stories, while dementia robs our loved ones of their stories.

We use our stories to connect, with ourselves and each other. This is why I believe sharing our stories is so powerful and important.

They can impact others in ways we do not realise, or only realise much later, like that inspiring story of your favourite role model.

Do you own your story?

I have found that owning my story, the good and the bad, has helped me get to know myself better, and consequently, to thrive.

Writing your own story, instead of letting others do the writing, is vital.

And reflecting on our stories, to empower us as we chose how to write the next chapter is key.
