Where are you going?
Hi guys
Am writing this from a train on the way to deliver some in-real-life career and leadership training for GPs- I'm very excited the Internet connection is working!
Why did you choose your current career?
Most likely it is because it gave you a sense of purpose and achievement...or at least that was the plan.
Is it still working for you?
Daniel Pink describes 3 keys to motivating ourselves - Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose.
Being self directed and having some control; getting better and making progress, and above all - knowing why you are doing it. These combined can provide great motivation. Sounds good huh?
How close are you to this in your work?
Sometimes the treadmill of life is so unrelenting it is tough to check in to see if what we are doing is still aligned to our original plans.
This checking in is key - without it we could veer way off course without even noticing...
Having done this myself, take if from me, it's not a fun path.
That's why I now do what I do - Career Coaching, Day Retreats, and Workplace Leadership and Wellbeing training.
All involve checking in with how you are doing. And then taking steps to improve if needed.
Life is short and good work is good for you. Bad work - not so much.
Making your work work for you is key. That's what working well really is all about. Hence the name, The Working Well Doctor.
What would it look like for your work to work well for you?
When did you last pause to reflect on where you are and if it's where you want to be?
If the answer is - 'too long'! Then make the time to join me on retreat or for career coaching.
