How much spark do you have?
Hello there -
I am writing to you wearing my Christmas Jumper.
It only sees the light of day in December so I front-load wear time this month (with appropriate pauses for laundry, just in case you were wondering...)
So. It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas...
How are you finding it?
Are you excited or frazzled? How much spark do you have?
For those of us with kids, there are the (hopefully!) heart-warming school Christmas events.
And the inevitable bugs (in us, our kids, our patients...)
Do you have that cosy festive glow, feeling grateful for the good things?
Are you looking forward to spending time with extended family?
For some of us that brings joy...for others, perhaps not.
Some of us feel lonely, and tricky relationships can sometimes flare up.
It's as if the festive season is a magnifying glass.
Whether we celebrate Christmas or not, it can amplify the cheerful stuff...and the less-than-cheerful stuff.
How can you navigate it all?
One helpful tip is to visualise your 'internal battery'.
Are you fully charged, half charged or running on empty?
Then focus on your never-ending task list. Which tasks can be done when your energy is low and which require you firing on all cylinders?
Where possible matching the task to your energy level can help.
It's not always feasible (duty days being an obvious example); but where possible it can help you maintain momentum and get stuff done even your energy is low.
